Synopsis

Mistakes.

We all make them. But when is a mistake too big to forgive? What happens when the consequences of our mistakes are so disastrous, they cause excruciating pain to everyone we hold near and dear?

San Francisco’s Dr. Morgan Drake makes one mistake. One colossal mistake that could cost him everything and everyone he loves—including himself.

When interior designer, Zoë Drake sees small changes in her husband, her investigations point to a mammoth problem. The happy marriage and great relationship they share quickly begins to evaporate. What’s worse—it’s all happening when Zoë’s going through some changes of her own—at a time when she might need Morgan the most.

With a husband who is at times completely absent, a child who increasingly blames himself for his parents’ issues, and a cryptic call that introduces the element of danger and fear, Zoë will soon realize that there is a painful side of love. As their world falls apart will there be anything that can secure their bond, or will this chapter of their lives come to a catastrophic end?

The Painful Side of Love is a follow-up novella to Rebecca Rohman’s romantic suspense novel, Love M.D. If you like romance with a tad of steam, a huge injection of suspense and being taken on a roller-coaster of emotions, then this novella is for you.

My review:

I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you Rebecca for giving me the opportunity to read again one of the most amazing stories you’ve wrote. You have a special place in my heart, as a friend and as an author.

I am a huge fan of this wonderful author, but with every single story, she steers my heart and makes it do all crazy stuff. She makes me love her characters even more; she makes me addictive to the books, and eager for the next story. Her writing style makes you think everything happens smoothly, naturally, I cannot find a word good enough to describe it.

This story was a pure roller-coaster, an intensive ride, a grab your seat and don’t stop reading kind of book. We get to see more of the Drake’s, their story, their day to day life, and again new trouble surrounds them. Zoë, Morgan and Adrian thought they finally can breathe, and they can continue their life’s without any trouble. But, it seems the problems have a way of finding a way to them. Will they make it this time? Will they have the power to confront what lies ahead? Or will they give up?

I loved this story. I loved all the characters, and I’m glad I had a chance to read again about some of them, and I see what lies ahead. I loved the way the story continued, with how the Drake’s showed me of what they can endure, of what real family and love looks like. You can tell Rebecca it’s putting her heart into these stories. You can sense it from the first pages. An enthralling story, which will take a swing at your emotions. I highly recommend this book!

Review- Pure by Jennifer L. Armentrout

sans-titre

Synopsis:

“Alex lives–and loves–recklessly, until a single decision leads to a heartbreaking revelation. As a mysterious threat closes in and she confronts a Council that wants to see her in servitude, Alex face a choice between love that is fated, and love that is forbidden”–Amazon.com.

My review:

I started reading Pure, and finished it in a heartbeat. I loved it! The second installment of The Covenant Series was a roller coaster, a lot of emotions, and a story that I can’t get it out of my head. Alex is one of my all-time favorite feminine characters, with her attitude after all the trouble she has been through.

I am team Aiden, I know Seth seems nice and all, but I have a feeling he is not showing and saying everything he knows. Aiden on the other hand, is right next to Alex, trying to guide her through her problems, and knowing when to continue and when to stop. The feelings that are between this two, makes my heart skip a beat and gives me goose bumps. They are just perfect together.

“No one is like you, Alex.”
I grinned. “I’ll take that as a compliment.”
“It is.” He nudged me again, and my grin grew into another ludicrous smile- the kind Caleb gave Olivia when they weren’t tearing each other’s heads off. “You’re incredibly intelligent, Alex. Funny and…”
“Pretty?”
“No, not pretty.”
“Cute?”
“No.”
I frowned. “Well, then.”
Aiden’s laugh sent shivers through me. “I was going to say ‘stunning.’ You’re stunningly beautiful.”

Alex is barely coming to terms with the fact that she would be the Apollyon, and Seth’s other half. She has a connection with Seth, and it’s causing a lot of complications in her life, especially with Aiden. All of them fight together to protect the Covenant, maybe Aide more to protect Alex.
Seth is trying to prove to Alex that he is good guy, by being present all the time and trying to comfort her. He will do anything do make her laugh and at the same time trains her to be the best, but he is still so arrogant. Seth isn’t Aiden, she loves deeply Aiden, but being what they are it is impossible to be together. Seth is a half-blood like her. But, will Alex give Seth a chance and their connection? Or she will continue loving Aiden?

“We don’t snuggle.” He dropped his arm over my shoulder, and the scent of mint and something wild tickled my nose. “How about we cuddle?”
“We don’t do that either.”
“But you’re my cuddle bunny. My little Apollyon cuddle—” I punched him in the side.”

This story was much better than the first, and a lot sadder. A lot of things happen, and it was impossible to put the book down. I loved it so much! If you haven’t read this series yet, make sure you do it soon, because it’s the best young adult ever! I only read Lux series, and now Covenant, but the author has completely blown me away, and I’m obsessed with all of her books. I cannot wait to how things will unfurl in book – Deity.

“As soon as I got to page 3, I was like well, I know what I’m doing the
rest of the night. I loved all the real serial killers and horror,
mixed with a hot romance.” -Holly Byers
“I know I have things to do but this story is so good and I’m riveted.
So intense.” – E. B. Black
“I absolutely loved it and couldn’t put it down.” -Sherry Aue
Beautifully written, and the story flows, gripping you from the moment you meet
Lord Marcus Loxley in that first chapter. I love the intricate
historical aspects of the book, the underlying Jack the Ripper story,
and the uniqueness of Ms. Rabbiosi’s vampires. I absolutely enjoyed
each second of this book and can’t wait to read more from this
author.
-Amazon reviewer D.C. Triana
I feel like I could write a book on this book. I was instantly
captivated from the very first chapter and it didn’t let me go until
the last page. I absolutely loved this story. Lord Marcus Loxley is a
very complex character that seemed so “human” (pardon the
expression considering he’s a vampire), that I felt like I was
experiencing everything as he was. This book had so many different
facets to it. Historical London. Jack the Ripper as a back story.
Crime. Lust. Greed. Poverty. Death. Blood. It was the type of story
that you’re sad when it’s over because you’re forced to leave the
world you were just completely immersed in. Rabbiosi does a fantastic
job with the historical elements and I cannot wait to read more by
this very talented author!
-Amazon reviewer J. Saman
This was quite an interesting concept for a book. I was thrilled to find
out that the events regarding the historical murders were accurate.
The twists and turns of the plot are easy to follow, but not easy to
predict. I’m plenty excited for the next book to come out to see what
happens next!

Review- Half-Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout

9680718

Synopsis:

The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi pure bloods have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals–well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures.

Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she’s crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn’t her biggest problem–staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is.

If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

My review:

I was intrigued about this book, after I finished reading Lux, but I was afraid to not be disappointed. Luckily, I started reading and I couldn’t stop. This story is amazing!! There are no words describing it how good it is. It is something similar and combined, to Lux and maybe Vampire Academy, but the post perfectly written story!

The accent that Jennifer L. Armentrout has put on this stories, with Greek Mythology/Gods and such, it puts a great spin on it. The story was fresh and entertaining and never bored me one minute. I loved the characters, I loved how everything just fit together.

Alexandria- or Alex, as she loves to be called, is one fine character. She is full of courage, she is a fighter, always with witty comments, and she just throws herself out there. She is a kick ass heroine, who protects and it’s there for the people she loves. Because of her comments and maybe attitude, sometimes she gets into trouble, she has a temper. Alex is just perfect!

Caleb is her best friend, her shoulder to cry on and the only person she really trusts. He has always been there, and will continue to be when she mostly needs him. Caleb has a tendency to protect Alex; because he understands her. Even if sometimes he is danger because of her, Caleb will stay by her side.

And there is Aiden St Delphi. Wow! That’s a first thing to say. I loved him more than Daemon, I have to be honest. Even if Aiden keeps his feelings hidden, you can sense something between the lines, and he really helps Alex through her problems. Aiden loves Alex, but he is a pure, and Alex is a half-blood, this two cannot be together.
Even if feelings are there, Aiden tries to hide them, because he has to train Alex so she can catch up and be in line with all the classes, before summer ends. He trains her, he helps her deal with all the personal problems and he stays near her all the time. He is the kind of guy who makes you week in the knees.

I highly recommend this book! It was absolutely amazing and I couldn’t stop reading! This stories are an addiction, because Jennifer L. Armentrout is the finest writer! This was such an incredible start to the series because the worlds she creates, are incredible and you automatically just fall in love with her characters. This turned out to be my favorite stories! Five starts, without a doubt!

Growing up and getting trapped in adult life is something that most people
eventually face, but while reading The Fairytale Chicago of Francesca
Finnegan, a charming and magical book by Steve Wiley, it is almost
possible to forget about the inexorable progress of time. With a main
character who is teetering on the edge of forgetting about magic
forever, this novel is a touching and thought-provoking ride through
nostalgia, memory and the promises of youth. Wiley’s sharp,
tongue-in-cheek style of writing makes the pages fly and the Chicago
skyline makes a stunning backdrop for this mystical romp.
In Chicago, a secret L train runs through the mythical East Side of the
city. On that train, you’ll find a house-cat conductor, an
alcoholic elf, a queen of the last city farm, the most curious wind,
and an exceptional girl by the name of Francesca Finnegan.
When we first encounter Richard K. Lyons, he is a man who has long
forgotten the one night, when he was still a boy called Rich, when
Francesca invited him aboard the secret L for an adventure through
the East Side. The night was a mad epic, complete with
gravity-defying first kisses, mermaid overdoses, and princess
rescues. Unfortunately for Rich, the night ended like one of those
elusive dreams forgotten the moment you wake. Now, Rich is all grown
up and out of childish adventures, an adult whose life is on the
verge of ruin. It will take the rediscovery of his exploits with
Francesca, and a reacquaintance with the boy he once was, to save
him.
